Forfeiture LawIn 2008, the State Legislature passed a law regarding forfeiture as it pertains to child pornography as well as juvenile prostitution and exploitation of a child. It provides for the seizing of assets and equipment involved in the production of child pornography. The Forfeiture Law (720 ILCS 5/1120.1A) provides for the Attorney General's Office to sell the assets and the proceeds are divided among the agencies of local government involved in the investigation and the VCVA fund. The VCVA is used to fund government entities such as the State's Attorney's Offices. Government coffers should never be fattened through any occasion where a child suffered.
