Yet again and in perhaps the most brazen episode yet, Chairwoman Schmidt denied Quenton and Denise their voice at the County Board meeting
during public comment. Schmidt insisted that questioning the performance of an agency funded by the board (the State't Attorney's office), is
not "germane" and doesn't pertain to "County Board business". She of course did this after allowing proponents of the RT53 expansion to speak freely.
RT53 is not "County Board business". If citizens cannot question the performance or elected officials and agencies funded by the board during public comment, where are they supposed to
exercise their 1st ammendment rights in a relevent forum? The right to speak is one of most fundamental principles of democracy. Why should
that stop at the door of the Lake County Board? It never should.
